A Different View Podcast is devoted to telling the stories of everyday people — sharing their experiences and bringing a different view to others through the art of storytelling.
My name is LaShaina Blair-White. I'm a Canadian podcaster. My dream to start a storytelling podcast began in my third year of journalism school. I was on assignment to produce an audio story about a recovering alcohol addict, a familiar sight at the drop-in centre in town.
It was my first taste experiencing how the audio form of storytelling can transform the way people perceive and understand a story. That’s the power of good storytelling — it really can change your view.
That was three years ago, and now I’m finally launching my dream.
One of the main reasons I wanted to do this is because I love stories and I believe everyone has one. Regardless of whether someone looks like they’ve had a tough life or maybe they’re a suburban mom, whatever the case, everyone goes through something and has a story to share. And that story could help someone else, it could inspire change or maybe just be relatable.
I want to be authentic on this journey. This has been a lot of work. All of it has been done on top of a full-time job and other life obligations. I look forward to the day when this podcast will be my only focus and can support me but for now, I will juggle it all to make sure my dream has a chance.
My hope is that A Different View Podcast enhances your life somehow. And if it does, I hope you’ll consider supporting my dream to help me continue doing it.

Have a pitch?

We want to hear stories — Your story, your best friend's story, the crazy story your Uncle Eddie tells at every family gathering. We want to tell all the stories you can't stop telling.
So submit your pitch! Please be specific and tell us every detail you can remember. It doesn't have to sound like a 'radio' story. Just tell it to us the same way you've been telling it to everyone else. We'll do the rest.
Just remember, if you are submitting a pitch and we like it, we will be going through with it. So double check with Uncle Eddie to make sure he is okay with you sharing and willing to talk to us too!
